Dawn Awakening

Dawn Awakening

Past, present and future are celebrated through the awakening of a new dawn. Stumers Creek at Coolum Beach will again play centre stage for the Horizon Festival finale – a place of gathering, remembering, dreaming and ritual.

The Glossy Black Cockatoo and its spirit of collective strength is honoured through music, dance and spoken word alongside stunning visual art installations and projections.

Featuring Lyndon Davis and Gubbi Gubbi Dance, multi-award winning singer/songwriter Shellie Morris, traditional Yolngu song-man Djakapurra Munyarryun, vocalist Kacey Patrick, dancer Soraya Fewquandie Scott, guitarists Robbie James and Andrew Veivers, cellist Louise King, Cool Harmonies, Coolum State School choirs and projection artist James Muller.

This is a free event for which you do not need a ticket. You can register your interest to receive updates about the event and important information for your attendance.

Unfortunately this event is not wheelchair accessible. Dogs are allowed on leads, but are not encouraged during the event.

The event will commence at 5am sharp so please arrive early to ensure you are seated no later than 4.50am.

Please bring a rug or beach chair to sit on. If you bring a chair, please sit to the back of the audience viewing area.  Photography is welcomed but we ask that you remain seated during the performance.

Parking on Stumers Creek Rd is quite limited so a Park n Ride service from Tickle Park will be available from 4.00am to 6.45am. Please remember to bring a torch, walk together in groups and supervise small children, as it will be quite dark.

Coffee will be available to purchase. As we honour this special place, we ask that you take special care with disposing your rubbish thoughtfully.
