More info
Lara Stone dyes textiles with natural colourants that are often sourced from the Australian landscape. She imbues the textiles with the land using the beautiful materials that it provides; minerals, leaves, bark, rust and other experimental substances. She then applies these products to pieces of fabric using various dyeing and printing methods to make up her designs.
After dyeing the textiles, Lara designs and sews clothing that is inspired by this connection with the land. Through her work Lara is committed to trying to reduce the negative environmental and social impacts of fashion.
The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Sunshine Coast Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
