Hundreds of dedicated artists, producers, organisers, event managers, curators, workers and volunteers have come together to bring a 10-day extravaganza of arts and culture to the Sunshine Coast starting tomorrow (Friday, August 25).

To complement the program’s local flavour, the Horizon Festival will launch tomorrow night with the opening spectacle and Australian premiere of internationally renowned William Close and the Earth Harp Collective at Kings Beach Amphitheatre, with two shows at 6pm and 8pm.

Again broadening our local Horizon, Architects of Air’s Arboria luminarium opens its door tomorrow, thanks to USC and Insite Arts. If you missed out on the first release of free tickets to this experiential public art installation, don't stress, free walk-up tickets will be available each day.

Experience our regional artistic talent at Eumundi which will come to life with three days of music, street art, spoken word, epicurean delights, digital animations and indigenous celebrations as a part of Art St Eumundi this Friday to Sunday. Saturday night will see the Eumundi Amphitheatre rocking with the iconic School of Rock.

Maroochy Music & Vis Arts Festival will make its third trip around the sun on Saturday at the old Horton Park golf course in Maroochydore, with a stacked line-up of talent, including Alison Wonderland, Bernard Fanning, The Presets, Gang of Youths and more. Visual artists Lucas Salton and Bonnie Jenkins and street artist Beastman and Frank (of Frank and MIMI) will join the fray

Don’t miss side-splitting comedy this Friday with Akmal at The Shed at Downunder Drive, while on Saturday there’s opera in Buderim, with The Secret Life of Opera and the Modern Maori Quartet will share their Kiwi humour and heavenly harmonies at the Kia Ora Club in Eumundi on Saturday night.

If you’re in Caloundra on Saturday night, put on your platforms, dust off the flares and head to Kings Beach Amphitheatre for Music on Kings Love Train. Enjoy fabulous hits of the 60s and 70s in an all singing, all dancing Motown, soul and disco spectacular.

Horizon Underground also gets underway in Nambour with A Day at C-Square and Hey-Lowe Festival on Saturday, plus the Dying to Know exhibition, Nambour Heritage Soundtrail and performances and workshops at the Black Box Theatre, including Wounded in all the Right Places (18+), Play with Improvisation and MANIA (18+).
