International installation artist, musician and visionary William Close will bring his famed Earth Harp to Australia for the first time to ignite the Horizon Festival of Arts and Culture on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast on Friday, August 25.

For one night only, the Los Angeles-based artist will deliver two free concert spectacles, collaborating with local musicians and performers Linsey Pollak (windsynth), Lizzie O'Keefe (vocals) and Louise King, (cello), along with Tjupurru (Didjeribone). 

Close’s musical installations use the architecture as part of the instrument. 

The Earth Harp has been installed in some of the most iconic destinations in the world, including The Colosseum in Rome, the temples of Vietnam and the Grand Theatre of Shanghai.

The Kings Beach Amphitheatre in Caloundra will stage the festival opening, where the body of The Earth Harp will rest on the large stage and 24 harp strings will travel across the length of the Amphitheatre, transcending the audience and transforming the venue in to a colossal musical instrument.

The audience will be pulled into the performance and experience the music from “inside” the harp.

Performances will take place at 6pm and 8pm.
