Natural Dyeing with Lara Stone - SOLD OUT

Natural Dyeing with Lara Stone - SOLD OUT

As part of the Sunshine Coast Council Fabric – Slow fashion, Artful Living program, dip your toes in the world of design and sustainable fashion.

Learn various natural dyeing techniques on fabrics to create beautiful layered effects utilising a range of products from repurposed kitchen waste to native plants, mud and rust. Participants will take home a fabric art piece, inspiration and knowledge to continue using this creative technique.

There are two workshop sessions:

Wed 29 Aug 10am - 3pm

Sun 2 Sep 10am - 3pm

Lara Stone dyes textiles with natural colourants that are often sourced from the Australian landscape. She imbues the textiles with the land using the beautiful materials that it provides; minerals, leaves, bark, rust and other experimental substances. She then applies these products to pieces of fabric using various dyeing and printing methods to make up her designs.

After dyeing the textiles, Lara designs and sews clothing that is inspired by this connection with the land. Through her work Lara is committed to trying to reduce the negative environmental and social impacts of fashion.
